You wanna play games? That's it! I'm calling your mother!

They almost wouldn't do it - the ladies asked him about 10 times if he was sure.

I told him to stop here...
So Flock of Seagulls.

Lady at Salon: Looks very good!
Mr. Perfect: Thank you!
Lady: You look cool. Before you look soft, now you cool.

Bonus points for the kids that got the title of this post. If you don't, check it out:
Dionne: [about Murray shaving his head] Why do you care what *he* thinks, Murray? I'm the one who has to look at you! What am I gonna do with you now? And right before the yearbook pictures? What am I gonna tell my grandchildren? You know what? That's it...

Murray: That's it!

Dionne: You wanna play games?

Murray: You wanna play games?

Dionne: I'm calling your mother!

Murray: Wait! Don't call my mom! Don't call my mom...

Blankoat

Another day, another Snuggie gone wrong. Ok, actually this is like a Snuggie gone totally right. More like a sleeping bag with a hood and sleeves.

I approve.

His Antichrist

I just heard some knocks at the door and ran downstairs.

Guy at door: Hi! I'm going door-to-door today with Greenpeace, I'm sure you've heard of us?
Me: (nodding)
Guy: Well, we're out today talking to people about fossil fuels and global warming,
Me: (grimace and nod)
Guy: You... look like you were going to say something?
Me: I work for an engineering company that builds power plants?
Guy: Wow... I... I don't even know what to say to that.
Me: (nodding sympathetically) But I recycle! A lot! (pointing at full tubs)
Guy: Yeah...

Aladdin, Ariel and Me

After a great day spent on the National Mall, we headed home to get ready for some friends to come over for dinner. BBQ, PBR and cake!

Stay classy on your birthday.

The food was totally awesome - burgers, sausages, chicken and veggies on the grill, tons of chips and dips, and tater tots with cheese wiz! The tots with wiz were amazing. Seriously, the tots were the Kelly Kapowski of my party.

We ate while some of the bball games were still on, then played a few rounds of Whoonu. Mark killed the competition.

Then, finally, it was the moment we all were waiting for... and by all I mean me... it was cake cutting time!!!

my precious....

SURPRISE!!!

The gayest cake in the history of cakes!

This cake was the equivalent of eating happiness.

After the cake eating, Mark and I went outside to shot gun cans of PBR. (Classy) But before we could (ok, that's a total lie, I was too lazy to deal with the stress and mess of shotgunning and were just hanging out drinking our beers), Mr. Perfect summoned me inside to see....

THIS FABULOUSNESS!!

Aladdin!

Aladdin + Andre = Happy Birthday to me!

The night quickly turned into a Disney movie sing-along.

Mark will show you his PBR in a can world...

After Aladdin ended we popped in Little Mermaid.
It was kinda the best way to spend your birthday.
The sing-alongs were epic.

Sha-la-la-la-la-la don't be shy!

It was a good day.

Inspiration

Just, you know, for life in general.

Thanks Dave.

A Birthday Walkabout

We started out my birthday the right way - by making lattes with my new espresso machine (and grinder and all the other fun gadgets that came with it). They were delish. The present made me laugh though - I had to wonder if Mr. Perfect was just telling me that the coffee I make for him (and put in a huge thermos) isn't good and now I have to make lattes daily!
But I know that his intentions are always more honorable than mine, and it was the perfect gift as I have been upset with the lack of non-Starbucks coffee shops in DC. There is an excellent one, but it's a 30 minute walk, a bit too far for a latte on a regular basis. After downing our drinks we met Mr. Perfect's Dad for brunch at Poste. It was fab-u-lous. Seriously amazing food and drinks. The bloody mary was ridonkulously good. We're actually going back there tonight for dinner with his Dad!

Although it wasn't the sunny and warm day that Friday was, we still walked down to the National Mall to check out the Smithsonian Kite Festival. And to get Free Hugs.
So when my mom wrote on my Facebook page, Happy Birthday, go fly a kite! She was being serious. Not mean.
My favorite kite! And it's colorful cousin.

The sky is full of sperm/jellyfish! Either way, scary.

Fish, birds, fairies, and lots of other fun kites filled the sky.
This lady was flying the smallest kite ever. Well, actually she was holding a bear that was flying the smallest kite. It's the tiny white patch - has a green tail. Strange, and I like it.

Looking up from our kite-watching spot.
Mr. Perfect & Poppa.
This kid was totally adorable, he got his kite up and was running all over - but by the time I got my camera out he wiped out on the wet lawn.
After the kites we headed down to the tidal basin for a look at the cherry blossoms. I think later this week they will be in their full glory.

They're cold looking!

Cake update

A sneak peak inside the cake... Frosting.
Prettiest dirty dishes ever!
Sprinkles!!!!

Left, Cake Fail. Right, Cake WIN!

I loves it.

This is what happens when you make a rainbow cake

First, get stupid excited.Second, get even more excited when Mr. Perfect tells you the batter looks like the food fight from Hook, which is totally awesome because that is kinda my goal. Always. BANGARANG!
So while you are making it all pretty...

Mr. Perfect has his own approach.

I think this is just the most beautiful thing ever, even if it turns brown while baking.

And your spatula is artwork.

Then take lots of pictures of yourself, duh.

Make sure to do a scary face for Maureenie.

Oh! My muffins!

Did I not mention, I planning on this being a 4-layer cake. Two 9-inch, and then two smaller layers. The baby layer looks like a science experiment.
And the house smells incredible.
Thanks for the inspiration Shell and Aleta.
