The Ark

About two hours outside of DC we got a call from one of the roommates reporting a flood in the basement. Like water rushing into the basement from an unknown source and not slowing down and things floating around in the water flood.

As bad as this situation is, it's also kinda a blessing for me. we were planning on putting a majority of my stuff in the basement until I can move it into the room that will be open at the end of the month. I can't imagine... ugh... if we had put my stuff down there... yikes.

So along with my roommates' stuff being damaged, we also have a water heater and our heater partially submerged in water. It's getting pretty cold in the house, last I looked it was about 60 degrees in the house. Mr. Perfect and I got out the heated mattress pad Mom got me last year. I'm staying cozy in bed with the heat on high while he watches football downstairs.
Things are good.

The guys that came to work on the basement had to make waders out of trash bags. These boots weren't nearly tall enough!

Yes, that stuff is floating.

The water covered the first two steps down to the basement. I am so thankful my stuff wasn't down there!

  1. Right now I'm feeling glad for you...but also wondering why I didn't try harder to gank the heated matress pad from you while you were giving away all of your other junk...

  2. Indoor pool!

You have ANY idea how lucky you are to find a place with a pool in The District!!!

You must be by Foggy Bottom, that's where all the good homes are...

    ; ' )

    ...glad you arrived safely.

  3. I know Doc, we should do what some kids in the dorms at KSU did - hang a heater over the water. Good idea, right??
