So busted!

Nothing can brighten my day like these t-shirts. I love them. I need a couple of them.

Save the Ballerina, Save the Birthday

I have to give credit to Melinda for coming up with the fabulous title for this blog. You'll understand it more shortly. So yesterday was my birthday, and it was fabulous! I feel so blessed to be able to hang out with so many friends and family on my special day! And so many calls and Facebook posts. You like me! You really like me!

So yesterday I met up with K-Daddy for the traditional Vietnamese birthday lunch. It was fabulous. Especially since we were able to eat outside, not in a place that smells like a wet basement (last year). The we took a little walk to BabyCakes, which totally kicks ass, and picked up some cupcakes to round out our lunch. While we were out walking around, I saw this lady. The coolest crazy lady EVER. She was so sparkly... especially the gold glitter in her hair. It was freaking awesome. When I told K-Daddy that I needed a picture, he told me he was totally prepared for this moment and whipped out a tripod. Seriously.
It was pretty awesome. I should have set the timer for a video instead of a picture so you could watch me leaping into the frame. P.S. K - my only birthday wish, that you get rid of the beard!!! LOL

So I had to get a BabyCake for Shell, the baby needed it. And even though she hates frosting, I caught her using her pink flamingo cake topper to eat frosting. She looks so guilty!

After that I did a little shopping on the Plaza with Melissa & Heather, fun times, then went home to chill a bit before going out.

Here I am before Ry & I went out for the night, and in case you were wondering, yeah, you haven't seen that tiara since Prom, 2001. I love it.

Ry & I started the night at Thomas on 39th Street. I loved it. A perfect night for a drink (or two) on their rooftop deck. This is when I broke out the ballerina. I decided that she needed to be a part of the food for the day after I took her off my BabyCake. So, she was there for my glass of Cava. And my bellini martini. Yum!
Ry & I had a bet on if she would sink or float. I win!

I'm trying to flash a big 2-4 for the camera, unfortunately it's now 4-2 and a really bad angle.

After Thomas we headed to Rudy's for dinner with friends. This is Melinda trying to prove that she doesn't look good in candid photos. Whatevies! She totally rocked it. It was so fun - and the ballerina showed up in my Corona.
And Ry's margarita. She looks more like an ice skater here.
And my taco salad - I actually love love love this picture! And an unauthorized dip in the salsa! I think this is when Melinda yelled, "Save the Ballerina, Save the Birthday!" Hilarious.

Oh, and of course, she was on the cake!

Thanks Everyone! Especially Melinda for organizing and planning last night - so fun!

Big Girl, You are beautiful!

Ry gave me the Mika CD last night. I LOVE IT! How can you not love a cd that has a song called Big Girl, You are Beautiful? I love it. The perfect spring music. Go buy it. Now.

Birthdays!

Yeah, so here's a random collection of birthday & other pics of me. Who knew I was going to give you a present on my birthday?!? You're welcome.

Kevin & I at our (now annual!) birthday lunch at random/sketchy Asian restaurants.Me, Momma & Shell celebrating Momma's & my birthday with a ladies tea last year.
Not a birthday, but a sweet picture of me with a cake. It was confirmation! What what! (see, I totally need a scanner!)

A picture of pictures of me on my 18th birthday. Good work on the scrapbook, Mom!
And, the cake had a crown on it! Sweet!
I think this was my 16th or 17th birthday. My friends bought me a cupcake, then got it on my face. The only other thing I remember was my boyfriend at the time pouting about people singing to me/making a scene in a restaurant. What?!?
With my WonderWoman shirt that I loved!
Umm, the best picture. Ever.
Oddly enough, my cheeks actually still that huge. Told you. Hmm, circa 2003? Yeah, I don't know. I was still in college. Kick-ass cake Mom!
A senior picture because you love it.
Oh, wait, actually this is the best picture ever. And Shell will tell you that too (she took it).

Karaoke Krazy

Melinda & Melissa celebrated their golden birthday on Saturday (24 on the 24th!). I punished them by giving them the absolute worst champagne - ever. Perhaps I should have taken note that it was only $2.50 - for a reason. It was fabuloso - highlight of the night was the twin karaoke. Best kind of karaoke. I love these pics. Melinda is getting saucy! Andy & Ry got really into the karaoke too. Watch out, Ry's getting ready to break it down!

Andy rocked it pretty hard.
I enjoyed the karaoke so much that I already made plans to hit up the Red Balloon on Saturday night! See you there!
P.S. - I really enjoyed the chicks that Melinda's mom had on display. They were pretty creepy and cute at the same time. If by cute I mean they looked like they had severe birth defects.

To: Erin - Last Chance!

I updated this with more ideas at the top of the list.

Bedroom furniture.
Thanks to Carm sending me a screen shot of this ridiculously cheap & still cute looking furniture, I struggled to maintain focus this afternoon and not just shop online. I didn't even know I wanted new bedroom furniture until I saw this bed. Well, actually until I saw how cheap it is!

A scanner.
Tomorrow's post will be proof of the need.

I'm having a last minute panic & all I can come up with is -
The Mika CD.
Perez has shown me some good artists this year!

A Chi hair straightener.
If I'm going to be straightening my hair all the time, I should probably use something that won't fry it to a crisp. I think you can get them on Ebay for a good price.

I thought of more... but now I can't remember. I'll update later.

Wine glasses.
Something I've needed for a long time, they are cheap and everywhere, but I still haven't bought myself. I've been using these mugs instead - bonus, they don't fall over as easy as wine glasses.

A massive cake.
Pretty much modeled after these. Maureen gets all the cool cakes. So I have a public forum to let people know what I want for my birthday. Excellent! Although.. the older I get, the more I feel like if I ask for it & really want it, there's no way I'm going to get it. And if you think you have the idea for the perfect gift for me, there is a 60% chance that it will be the worst gift ever. But, whatever, I'm going to just be crazy and make a list anyway.

I think I'll just keep updating this blog, adding more ideas, links and photos to illustrate the need/desire for said gift.
Update - I ordered on online last night! Yes!!! - I've decided this is my gift to myself - A jewelry armoire. (I like this one and this one . I hate ones that look like these - no curvy legs please!)
My massive collection of massive jewelry is taking over my life. Or bedroom, whatever, same thing.A trip to Spain.
I totally need to go back, I just used my last bits of olive oil that I bought when I was there! Duh! If you ran out of t.p. you'd go to wal-mart, right? Well, I'm out of oil, time to go back to Spain. Deal with it.A bigger bathroom.I've come to realize that the lack of space in my bathroom for, well, anything, has led to my bedroom becoming a bit of a disaster (see #1) with makeup and hair product everywhere.

Spinners.
Ha! As if! Everyone knows that spinners are so last year and that rims that match you car color are hot. Well, and I have alloy rims & a silver car, so check!

A laptop.
I've convinced myself lately as I lay on my couch less than 2 feet from my keyboard that if only I had a laptop I would become more dedicated to the blog/writing and finally get that book deal, quit my job, be rich, travel the world and live happily ever after. I'm right, aren't I?
(and yeah, I totally did the self-timer for this. I know, I'm impressed too!)
Money.
Paying off my credit cards would be the best present. Ever.

So if I can't get #2 I'd settle for a trip to Chicago. New York. Wichita? Oh, who am I kidding? Someone just drive me to Westport & back home.

Clothes!
I'm going through one of those awkward moments where I feel like I'm in a fight with my best friend. If by fight I mean hate and don't fit in and they worn out and by best friend I mean clothes.

Purses. (yeah, that's plural)
I don't use my linen closet for linens. It's a purse closet. 'Nuff said. ('nuff is really ugly looking btw)

I'd say shoes, but come on, we all know I have crazy-big feet and it's pretty much impossible to buy shoes for me.
